In Caelo
About us
In Caelo grew from what had once been the local Parish Folk group, when some past members of that group came together . They advertised for more members, and so In Caelo was formed just before Christmas in 1997. The first performance was at the local Christmas Carol Service. At this stage the choir held only around 15 members but one could tell it was the start of something good.
Following the carol service numbers grew and choir now numbered around 25. It primarily sang at mass in the local St Conleth’s Parish Church. St. Conleth’s Parish is a thriving parish in the Diocese of Kildare and Leighlin in Ireland. (www.newbridgeparish.ie)
By the start of the new millenium In Caelo had almost doubled in size. Not only had the choir expanded but by now it was performing in various churches in the surrounding area. They have performed in churches in Dublin, Wicklow, Kilkenny and in Waterford with The City of Waterford Brass Band. They have also sung on two televised masses and at church services for some parish groups.
In October 2006 we made a very memorable trip to Rome and sang in various churches in the city.
Our first MD was Owen C Lynch and he was followed by Siobhan Keogh. Siobhan worked with us for over 10 years and brought the choir from strength to strength.
In 2010 Padraig Meredith replaced Siobhán Keogh as MD. Padraig worked with us for 3 years and now in 2013 we are looking forward to welcoming our new MD Alan Kelly.
In September 2014 Cora Coffey took over as MD and under her direction the choir has gone from strength to strength.
New members are always welcome. Check out the Schedule Page for a list of when we rehearse/sing or email us on the link above for details.
